Description
Automatic moisture control, heated operation, and a 1/4-inch check valve included with each trap. The ONAIR Automatic Drain Water Trap automatically releases collected moisture and includes a 12V heating coil for cold-weather air-ride applications. Every automatic trap now comes with a 1/4-inch NPT check valve for the tank-side connection, which is included in the updated price.
What is included?
- Single water trap: one automatic-drain water trap and one 1/4-inch NPT check valve.
- Dual water traps: two automatic-drain water traps and two 1/4-inch NPT check valves, one for each compressor line.
- 1/4-inch NPT female trap ports, automatic moisture drainage, built-in 12V heating coil and 12V electrical connection.
- The included check valve has 1/4-inch female-to-male NPT connections.
How the check valves work
For the ONAIR automatic-drain arrangement, a check valve is used on each side of the trap. Most compatible compressor leader hoses already have a check valve at the hose end. Connect that leader hose to the inlet of the water trap. Then install the included 1/4-inch check valve on the trap's outlet, toward the air tank. The tank-side valve helps prevent stored air pressure from flowing back through the trap when the compressor stops, allowing the automatic drain to operate as intended.

If the compressor's leader hose does not already contain a suitable check valve, an inlet-side check valve is also required for this arrangement. For dual-compressor installations, use one trap and its included tank-side check valve on each compressor line.
Installation notes
Confirm that the existing compressor check valve is present and working. Follow the indicated airflow direction toward the tank, use pressure-rated components and compatible 1/4-inch NPT threaded fittings, and install the heating/drain wiring according to the applicable instructions. A 1/4-inch NPT thread size is not the same as 1/4-inch airline outside diameter; other airline sizes may need appropriately rated adapters. Verify the arrangement for your specific compressor and tank before installation.
